Important distinction
We are not a junk removal company.
CNY Book Rescue handles donated books and accepted media, not furniture, construction debris, appliances, household trash, or full-property cleanouts.
Remove the books first
Books are heavy and consume truck space. Before paying a junk hauler to carry them away, request free book pickup from CNY Book Rescue.

CNY Book Rescue handles donated books and accepted media, not furniture, construction debris, appliances, household trash, or full-property cleanouts.
General junk removal companies commonly estimate a job by truck space, load size, labor, or weight. Books pack tightly and become heavy very quickly, so boxes of books can use a meaningful part of a paid load even when they occupy only one room. Removing the books before the hauler arrives may reduce the material included in that paid job.
CNY Book Rescue provides standard book pickup at no charge within our normal service area. We collect donated books rather than general household junk. That focused service is useful during moves, downsizing projects, estate cleanouts, office cleanouts, and home reorganizing when books are only one part of a larger removal project.
We serve communities from Herkimer County to Cayuga County, including Syracuse, Utica, Rome, Auburn, Oneida, Herkimer, Liverpool, and nearby Central New York towns.
Putting every book into a junk container treats useful and unusable material the same. With CNY Book Rescue, collected books are sorted. Depending on condition and suitability, some may be resold, some may be donated or passed along, and books that cannot continue in use may be responsibly recycled.
Before scheduling a general cleanout, set the books apart and estimate the number of boxes or shelves. Use the pickup form to describe the collection, its location, and any access concerns. Acceptance depends on type and condition. Exceptionally large or out-of-area requests that need additional travel, equipment, or labor are discussed and agreed upon before scheduling.
We do not remove unrelated junk, provide dumpsters, sweep out properties, or quote full cleanout work. For this service, our role is simple: pick up donated books and accepted media so they do not have to be included in a general junk removal load.

Books are dense and heavy. Taking them out of the load first may reduce the amount of material a paid hauler must carry.
Standard pickups in our normal service area are free. Any exceptional request requiring extra resources is discussed before scheduling.
Box them when practical, keep them separate from trash, and describe the amount, condition, and pickup location in your request.
