Finding a donation location, checking its current limits, loading a vehicle, and carrying everything inside can make a simple cleanout feel like a major project. CNY Book Rescue offers an easier option: tell us what you have, box the books when practical, and arrange pickup from your home, porch, garage, or doorstep.
We accept pickup requests for fiction, nonfiction, children's books, cookbooks, textbooks, biographies, reference books, and many other categories. Mixed collections are welcome, from a few boxes to a home library. Acceptance depends on type and condition, so the request form includes space to describe the books and any other accepted media.
Standard pickups within our normal service area are free. We cover Central New York from Herkimer County to Cayuga County, including Syracuse, Utica, Rome, Auburn, Oneida, Herkimer, Liverpool, and surrounding communities.
What your book donation supports
CNY Book Rescue works exclusively with donated books and media. We do not purchase collections or provide monetary compensation. We are an independently operated commercial business, not a nonprofit or tax-exempt charity, and we do not issue charitable donation receipts.
After pickup, books are sorted according to condition, demand, and suitability. Some may be resold, some may be donated or passed along to other organizations, and material no longer suitable for use may be responsibly recycled. We cannot promise a particular destination for an individual title, but the goal is to keep as many useful books in circulation as practical.
When you are ready, submit one pickup request for the collection instead of making repeated trips to different donation spots. Include your city, ZIP code, an estimate of the number of books, and any details that will help us plan.
